Weaving a Dream
The Dreamweaver home page is where you start a new bedtime story. Each story is called a dream. It is written for you one page at a time, and you pick what happens at each turn.
Fill in the form, tap the big button, and your story begins. When it asks "What shall we do?", tap the way you want to go.
Start a new dreamβ
- Open Storytime. You land on Dreamweaver.
- Under Who is the dream about?, check your name. Fill in Favorite stuffie and Caregiver's name if you like. These come from your profile when they are set.
- Under Where shall we wander?, pick one of 14 dreamlands, such as Enchanted Forest, Cozy Cloud Kingdom, Candy Village, Starlight Sleeper Train, Moon Garden or Mushroom Hollow.
- Under Who comes along?, pick a companion such as Ember the dragon pup, Professor Hoot, Luna the moon bunny, Twinkle the star kitten, Nimbus the cloud puppy or Waddles the penguin. Choose Just us tonight for no companion.
- Under How do you feel today?, pick a mood, such as Sleepy already, Had a big day or A bit worried.
- Under How long?, pick Short, Regular or Long. Pro and Premium members can also pick Epic (8 pages).
- Tap Begin our dream. The first page opens in the reader.
- At the bottom of each page, under What shall we do?, tap one of the choices. The next page is written from your choice.
- When the story ends, it is saved to your shelf automatically.
Storytime remembers your last setting, length, mood and companion for next time.
Daily limitβ
Free members can start 3 new dreams a day, Pro members 15 and Premium members 40. Choosing paths inside a dream does not count against the limit. If you reach it, Storytime tells you and you can weave again the next day.
After a dream endsβ
When a dream finishes, Storytime asks if you want to Put it on the community shelf? You can add a shelf title, pick a shelf collection and add a dedication line, then tap Share it. Storytime then offers to swap your real names before sharing. Tap Keep it just ours to keep it private. See Story Library for more.
Continue readingβ
If you close a dream partway through, a continue reading ribbon appears on the home page showing the page you stopped on. Tap it to pick up where you left off.
Story Seriesβ
A Story Series lets tonight's dream be the next chapter of an ongoing story world. Each new chapter remembers a short summary of the chapters before it.
- On the Dreamweaver form, find Story series.
- To start a new series, give it a title (for example, "The Moonlit Voyages") and tap Begin the series.
- Pick the series before you begin. The button changes to Begin chapter with the chapter number. Leave no series picked for a standalone dream.
- Finish the dream. It is saved as the next chapter, and a note tells you which chapter it was.
Series reach milestone badges at certain chapter counts. In the reader, a series can also remember a series voice for Read to me (see below).
Recurring Characters (Pro and Premium)β
Recurring Characters are friends you create who can appear in your dreams again and again.
- On the Dreamweaver form, find Recurring Characters.
- Tap Add a recurring friend.
- Enter a Name, Who are they? and A couple traits, then tap Save friend.
- Tap a friend to include or leave them out of the next dream.
Friends who are part of a Story Series come along in every chapter of that series, and the story remembers how many adventures you have shared. Free members see a short note about this feature with a See plans link.
Reader controlsβ
While reading, you can:
- Change the text size and turn on reduced motion. Both settings are remembered on this device.
- Tap Read to me to have your device read the dream aloud using your browser's built-in voice. Tap again to pause or resume. In a Story Series, you can pick a series voice from your device's voices.
- Tap Cozy sounds to play a background soundscape. Soft Rain and Hush are free. Ocean, Night Meadow, Fireplace and Music Box are for Pro and Premium members.
- Tap In (your caregiver's) voice if your caregiver has recorded themselves reading this dream. See Tuck-In.
Special banners on the home pageβ
These cards appear at the top of the home page only when they apply to you:
- A story was made just for you: your caregiver sent a story dedication. Tap Weave it into my next dream, then tap Weave the dedicated dream. The dedication shapes that dream.
- Happy linkiversary: on the anniversary of linking with your caregiver, you can tap Weave our Story of Us. This writes one complete story (no choices) from moments on your shared timeline and saves it to your shelf. It counts toward your daily limit.
- Someone left you a goodnight message: in the evening, if a goodnight message is waiting, tap it to go to Tuck-In.
These banners are shown to littles, not to caregiver accounts.
Dream Constellationβ
The My Dream Constellation card on the home page is a small night sky. Each night you can write one line about what you will dream about, and a new star appears. Tap a star to read that night's note again. You can change tonight's note with change. This card is shown to littles.
