๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ Smart Nursery

Smart Nursery connects real things in your room to CaregiverBabyHub: a wetness sensor or button, a little receipt printer for chore tickets, your phone's sleep and water apps, and CBH TV on the big screen. Everything runs through your normal Automations, so it all lives in one place.

Find it in the menu under ๐Ÿ“ฑ My Dynamic โ†’ ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ Smart Nursery (Magic Nursery in baby mode). The page is caregiverbabyhub.com/smart-nursery.

For littles

Your nursery can help out! A sensor can tell when you're wet, a tiny printer can print your chore list in the morning, and the TV can play lullabies when it's sleepy time. ๐ŸŒ™

โœจ One-tap recipesโ€‹

Tap Add it on a recipe and it's added to your Automations, already switched on.

RecipeWhat it does
๐ŸŒ… Morning chore ticketAt wake-up time, today's chores print on the printer
๐ŸŒ™ Lullabies at bedtimeAt bedtime, CBH TV switches to the Lullabies channel
๐Ÿ’ง Wet at nightWhen the sensor says wet at night, a linked caregiver gets a gentle ping. A little with no caregiver gets a gentle reminder
โฐ Up and at itWhen Health sync says you woke up, today's chores print

Recipes are ordinary automations. After you add one, you can edit it, switch it off, or delete it on the Automations page. They count toward the free plan's limit of 5 automations switched on at once (paid plans are unlimited). When a caregiver adds a recipe, it's made for the little they're looking after.

๐Ÿ”Œ Device keysโ€‹

Every sensor, shortcut, or button needs its own key. This section is the same key maker as Account โ†’ ๐Ÿ”Œ Devices. See Devices & API keys for the details.

  1. Name the key, for example "Bedroom sensor".
  2. Leave ๐Ÿ”” Device events ticked.
  3. Tap โœจ Make a key.
  4. Copy the Device link right away. It's only shown once.

The device link looks like caregiverbabyhub.com/api/hooks/cbh_pat_โ€ฆ. Anything that can send a web request to that link can log into the tracker.

Whose tracker? A little's key logs into their own tracker. When a linked caregiver opens Smart Nursery, the key maker is for the little they're looking after (Devices for their name): the key logs into the little's tracker, and each entry is marked as logged by the caregiver. Co-caregivers can each make keys.

  • The little sees every key made for them in Account โ†’ ๐Ÿ”Œ Devices, marked ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿผ Made for you by the caregiver, and can revoke it any time.
  • The caregiver sees and can revoke the keys they made under Keys you made for the little.
  • If the caregiver and little are unlinked, the key stops working for that little straight away. The link is checked on every log.
  • A caregiver's own keys (for their own tracker) are made in their own Account โ†’ ๐Ÿ”Œ Devices.

๐Ÿ”” Wetness sensor and buttonsโ€‹

When a device sends {"event":"wet"} to your device link, a wet change is logged in your tracker. Your automations can then react to it, for example with the Wet at night recipe.

EventWhat it logs
wet, messy, both, dryA diaper change of that type
water (with amount in oz)A drink added to today's total (8 oz if no amount is sent)
napStarts a nap
bedtimeStarts a night's sleep
wakeEnds the sleep that's still open (one started in the last 18 hours)

The page includes a starter ESP32 sketch for makers. It uses a cheap moisture sensor and sends at most one "wet" every 10 minutes. Tap Copy, paste in your Wi-Fi and your device link, and flash it.

Keep electronics away from skin and water. A DIY sensor is a hobby project, not a medical device.

๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Ticket printerโ€‹

Any cheap 58 mm Bluetooth or USB receipt (thermal) printer works. Most of them speak a standard printer language called ESC/POS.

  1. Open Smart Nursery in Chrome or Edge on Android, Windows, Mac, or ChromeOS.
  2. Tap ๐Ÿ”ต Connect Bluetooth printer or ๐Ÿ”Œ Connect USB printer and pick your printer.
  3. Leave the page open. It checks for new tickets about every 20 seconds and prints them by itself.

Try ๐Ÿงช Test ticket or ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Reward coupon to print one now.

How the queue works:

  • Automations can't reach your printer directly, so tickets wait in a queue until a page with a printer connected picks them up. The page shows how many tickets are waiting.
  • A ticket is only marked printed after it was actually sent to the printer. If one fails, printing stops and you'll see a message.
  • You can queue up to 10 tickets by hand at once.
  • The station can run on the little's device or on a linked caregiver's device.
  • Printers only print plain letters, so emoji and accents are simplified or left out.

iPhones and iPads can't connect to printers from a browser. Tickets still queue and print from any Chrome device.

โค๏ธ Health syncโ€‹

Your phone can tell the tracker when you go to sleep, wake up, or drink water. It uses the same device link.

๐ŸŽ iPhone (Shortcuts app)

  1. Make an automation for Sleep โ†’ when Wind Down or Bedtime starts. Add Get Contents of URL with your device link, method POST, and a JSON body of event = bedtime.
  2. Make another one for when you wake up, with event = wake.
  3. For a "Log water" shortcut, add Log Health Sample (Water, 8 fl oz), then Get Contents of URL with event = water and amount = 8.

๐Ÿค– Android

Sleep as Android can call a webhook when tracking starts and when the alarm is dismissed. Point it at your device link with event=bedtime and event=wake. Or use HTTP Shortcuts for a home-screen "๐Ÿ’ง I drank water" button.

Bedtime starts a sleep in your tracker, wake ends it, and water adds to today's drinks (and to the Bladder Diary in the Diaper Bag).

๐Ÿ“บ CBH TV on the big screenโ€‹

On CBH TV, while something is playing, you'll see:

  • โ›ถ Big screen: fills the whole screen. Great for a smart-TV browser.
  • ๐Ÿ“ก Cast to TV: sends our own videos to a Chromecast or AirPlay device, when your browser supports it. YouTube programs can't be cast this way.

To put the whole page on a Chromecast or Google TV, use Chrome's menu โ‹ฎ โ†’ Castโ€ฆ, pick your TV, then tap Big screen.

Automations can switch channels too. Try the Lullabies at bedtime recipe.

๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ Devices in Automationsโ€‹

Smart Nursery adds a ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ Devices trigger group to Automations:

  • A device saysโ€ฆ: fires when a sensor, Health sync, or button sends wet, messy, both, water, nap, bedtime, or wake. A drink sent as drink counts as water, and changes, drinks and sleeps logged through the Write logs address (/api/v1/log) count the same way. Tick Only at night (9pm to 7am) to ignore daytime events. Each event fires an automation once.

It also adds actions:

ActionWhat it does
๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Print a ticketPrints today's chores (grouped by room if you've mapped your house) or your own words, up to 300 characters
๐Ÿ“บ Switch CBH TVPins a CBH TV channel, or unpins it so any channel can be picked. TV rules like a self-hold still apply
๐Ÿ”’ Add / take off lock timeMoves the chastity timer. See Lock & control

Good to knowโ€‹

  • Each key can make up to 60 calls a minute, which is far more than any real device needs.
  • Revoke a key any time in Account โ†’ ๐Ÿ”Œ Devices. Anything using it stops right away.
  • Logs from a device are tagged with ๐Ÿ”Œ and the key's name, so you can tell them apart in the tracker.
