βοΈ Writing a course
Caregivers can teach what they know. A teacher-made course has lessons with text, quizzes, real-life missions and branching stories. Once the Little Academy approves it, you publish it and everyone can take it, with your name on it.
Who can write oneβ
Writing courses is for caregivers: you're linked with a little, or your role on the main site is set to caregiver or switch.
Write a courseβ
- Open the Course catalog and choose Write a course under Made by caregivers (or go straight to the Courses by caregivers page).
- Choose Start a new course. Give it a title, a summary and a picture, and pick A little course (taken as a little, in a babying voice) or A grown-up course (for littles and caregivers, adult to adult).
- Add lessons (up to 12). In each lesson, add parts:
- Text sections with a title. Teach it properly: what it is, how to do it, an example, and what usually goes wrong. Each lesson needs at least 150 words of teaching.
- Quizzes: single answer, multiple answers, or true or false.
- Missions: a checklist or a timer.
- Stories: a branching scenario with steps and endings. Every step needs at least two choices.
- Your draft saves as you go. Use the preview to see it the way members will.
The content rulesβ
Every author agrees to these, and review checks them:
- For adults only. Every person in your course, real or made up, is an adult.
- Nothing sexually explicit.
- No minors: never write about children, school-age characters or real kids, even as a joke or a comparison.
- No pictures of children. Courses use the Academy's object pictures only; there's no photo upload.
- American English.
- Missions must be safe, legal and something a person can stop at any time.
Review and publishingβ
- When the problem list is empty, send the course for review. You can't change it while it's waiting, but you can take it back.
- The Little Academy either approves it or asks for changes. You get a bell either way.
- Once it's approved, publish it whenever you're ready. It appears in the catalog under Made by caregivers, with your name.
To update a published course, edit it: it goes back to a draft and needs approval again. Publishing the new version replaces the old one, and members keep their progress.
Members who finish your course get a gold star and a certificate, just like an elective. They can also rate it with hearts.
