πŸ”‘ Caregivers as headmasters

When a little brings their caregiver into the Academy, that caregiver becomes their headmaster. Headmasters confirm real-life work, sign gates, and can shape the course. Three things always stay the little's: their limits, their safeword and Pause.

For littles

Your grown-up can be your headmaster. They cheer you on, check your work and open your gates with you. Your safeword and Pause are always still yours.

Bringing a caregiver in (for littles)

You invite; a caregiver can't add themselves.

  1. Link with your caregiver on the main site first, if you haven't already.
  2. On the Map, find your caregiver card (Bring your caregiver into the Academy) and choose your caregiver.
  3. They get a bell and read your oath. When they co-sign it, they're your headmaster.

You can ask more than one caregiver (up to four) with Add another caregiver, and remove anyone at any time from the same card. Removing a caregiver doesn't change your main-site link. Until someone co-signs, you sign for yourself.

Accepting (for caregivers)

  1. Tap the bell, or open Headmaster's office from the sidebar.
  2. Open the little's file. You'll see "Waiting for you to co-sign their oath".
  3. Read the oath, then choose Co-sign the oath, or Not for me to decline.

You can step down later whenever you need to.

Co-caregivers are equal

If a little has more than one headmaster, you're all equal: any of you can confirm missions, sign gates, offer add-ons and place a hold. Bells go to every headmaster. The one exception is a hold: for its first week only the caregiver who placed it can release it.

What a headmaster can see and do

Open Headmaster's office, then a little's file.

  • Their file: their answers and written work, and their private health check-in.
  • Their notes: the bookmarks, highlights and notes they keep in their lessons (read-only; they know you can see them).
  • Confirm missions. Missions that need a caregiver show under "Waiting for you". Tap Yes, they did it.
  • Sign their gate. When they ask, read the level's checklist and choose Sign their gate. If a sign-off request sits unanswered for a week, the little can sign it themselves.
  • Hold them at this level. Their lessons stay open but the gate stays shut until you release it. They're told either way.
  • Offer an add-on. They say yes or no, unless they already have the matching kink switched on on the main site, in which case it's added straight away.
  • Waive a lesson. In the gate section, open Lessons not finished and choose Waive next to a lesson that doesn't fit your household. It then counts as done.
  • This week's lesson plan. Pick up to five of their open lessons to stress this week. They go to the front of the little's next-lesson order and are pinned on their Today for seven days. A new plan from any headmaster replaces the old one.
  • Notes on lessons. Leave a short line on any lesson (for example, "We'll do this one together Saturday"). It shows on that lesson's cover and its map stone.
  • Countersign the forever contract at graduation. See Graduation.
  • Report cards and the calendar. See the little's report card, and their school life by day on the Calendar: missions, streak days, assignments, exams, sign-offs and promotions.

Bells for things waiting on you link straight to the right place, so you can confirm or sign in one tap.

A caregiver who is linked on the main site but not in the little's Academy sees "assignments and electives only".

The Teacher's desk

Any caregiver with a linked little can use Teacher's desk (in the sidebar), whether or not they're a headmaster.

  1. Open Teacher's desk and pick a little.
  2. Set an assignment: a written answer, a checklist, a timer or a day streak, with a due date.
  3. The little gets a bell. When they hand it in, grade it and award gold stars.
  4. See every grade in their Gradebook.

Learning the caregiver side

Miss Honeydew teaches caregivers too, in The Staffroom.
