πŸ“… External calendars

Link the calendar you already keep, like classes, shifts or appointments, and your real day shows up on the CaregiverBabyHub calendar. The app also knows when you're busy, so diaper checks, chore nudges and the AI caregiver wait until you're out of your meeting.

Set it up in My Account β†’ Settings, in the πŸ“… Your real calendar card, just under the Calendar Feed card.

For littles

Link your big-person calendar and the app knows when you're at school or work. No check-ins in the middle of class! Your caregiver can only peek at it if you say so.

Add a calendar

  1. Find your calendar's private iCal (ICS) link. Tap Where do I find that link? in the card for help:
    • Google Calendar: Settings β†’ your calendar β†’ Secret address in iCal format.
    • Apple Calendar: right-click the calendar β†’ Share β†’ Public Calendar β†’ copy the link.
    • Outlook: Settings β†’ Calendar β†’ Shared calendars β†’ publish β†’ the ICS link.
    • A college class schedule usually has a "subscribe" or .ics link too.
  2. Give it a name, for example "Class schedule". If you leave it blank it's called "My calendar".
  3. Paste the link and tap Add calendar.

It syncs right away and shows how many events it found. Links starting with webcal:// work too. You can link up to 5 calendars.

Keeping it up to date

Each calendar refreshes about once an hour on its own. Tap Refresh to fetch it now. The card shows the number of events and when it was last checked, or a ⚠️ message if the last fetch didn't work.

Only part of your calendar is kept: yesterday through the next three weeks. Repeating events, all-day events and time zones are handled.

To stop using a calendar, tap Remove. Its events are deleted from CaregiverBabyHub. Nothing in your real calendar changes.

On your calendar page

Your events appear on the Calendar page as sky-blue dots. Tap a day to see them under Real Life, with the time and place (or "All day"). If your calendars couldn't be loaded, the page says so instead of showing an empty day.

"These make me busy"

Each calendar has a These make me busy switch. It's on when you add a calendar. While you're in a timed event from a busy calendar:

  • Automatic Check-Ins that come due don't go out.
  • Chore nudges don't go out.
  • The AI caregiver doesn't reach out to you first.

All-day events never count as busy, so a birthday in your calendar doesn't silence your whole day. Turn the switch off for a calendar that's just for reference.

The AI caregiver knows your day

When you chat with the AI caregiver, she knows if you're in an event right now and until when, so she keeps it short and doesn't ask you to do things until it's over. She also knows your next event in the coming 10 hours and may mention it naturally, like "after your 4 o'clock, then." She won't nag about it.

"My caregiver may see it"

Each calendar also has a My caregiver may see it switch. It's off when you add a calendar.

When you turn it on, a linked caregiver who opens the Calendar page for you sees that calendar's events. Each event shows your name in front, like "Sam: Biology lecture," with its time and place. They can only look. They can't change, add or remove anything, and nothing is copied to their account.

  • Only calendars with the switch on are shown. Your other calendars stay private.
  • A calendar you've switched off or removed is never shown.
  • Only you can turn the switch on or off.

Caregivers: while the Calendar page is showing your little's calendar, you see your own linked calendars there too, alongside their shared events. Theirs have their name in front.

Privacy

  • CaregiverBabyHub only ever reads your calendar. It never writes to it.
  • Keep these links private. Anyone holding one can read that calendar. If a link leaks, make a new secret link in Google, Apple or Outlook and replace it here.
  • Only links to public internet addresses are accepted.

The other way: your schedule on your phone

The Calendar Feed card just above does the opposite. It gives you a private link that puts your schedule and planner into Google, Apple or Outlook calendar. Your Grown-Up Help appointments and dated bills go out through it too.

Questions

My calendar says ⚠️. Check that the link is the private iCal/ICS link, not the normal web address of the calendar, then tap Refresh.

I added an event but don't see it yet. Calendars refresh about once an hour. Tap Refresh to fetch it now. Your calendar app may also take a while to publish changes to its link.
