🫧 The new Nursery (Community)

The Community has been tidied up and made safer. Everything you know is still here, gathered into fewer, clearer places. Old links still work and take you to the new home for that page.

For littles

It is easier to find friends now, and easier to hide anyone you do not want to see. If someone bothers you, block them and they disappear from everywhere. Need the screen gone fast? Tap 🙈 at the top and it hides right away.

Everyday basics​

  • Today is your home page. It greets you, offers a card to continue where you left off, and keeps While you were away, a short catch-up of what happened since your last visit, right at the top.
  • For you on Today suggests people, lively discussions, rooms, classes and study groups, and events, picked from your interests, your role and your time zone. People you have blocked or muted never appear in it. For your first two weeks it's a bigger card, to help you find your way in.
  • The menu has five main stops: Today, Friends, Rooms, Mail and Me. On a phone they sit in the bar along the bottom; on a computer the menu sits at the side.
  • Search finds posts, people, rooms, squads, classrooms, events, meetups, topics and gear from one box. Open it with the 🔎 at the top, or press / or Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac). It only ever shows things you are allowed to see.
  • Dark mode can follow your device (pick Match my device), and the Night Nursery look is still there.
  • Quick hide: tap 🙈 in the top bar or the Toy Box, press Esc three times, or triple-tap the top bar.
  • The feedback button sends a note straight to the team, and the ? button opens help for the page you are on.

Fewer, clearer pages​

  • Friends brings together the friend finder, who is on now, the member list, the map, Little Adoption and the Caregiver Hunt.
  • Me holds your profile, notifications, saved posts, Safety & Blocks, settings and perks.
  • Calendar holds the calendar, events, birthdays and the meetup map.
  • Rooms is one home with tabs: the Nursery rooms, Chat Rooms, Topics, Squads and more.

Find friends​

Friend finder​

  1. Open Friends.
  2. Filter by role, shared interests, little age and time zone. You can also add an adult age range (18–24, 25–34, 35–44 or 45+). It stays hidden unless you choose to show it.
  3. Open a profile and say hello.

Your time zone is only shared if you turn that on from the main site. Otherwise the finder makes a rough guess from your map location.

Welcome wagon​

For your first two weeks, Today shows a welcome card: welcomes you have received, a few easy first steps, a one-box way to post your first hello, and the welcome guide. When someone new arrives, friendly greeters get a nudge to say hi. If nobody has said hello after a day, a welcome arrives from @TheNursery. That is the Nursery's automatic system account, and its message is clearly marked as automatic, not from a person.

Block, mute and message requests​

  • Block works both ways: neither of you sees the other anywhere (feeds, comments, rooms, the member list, the map, profiles and search), and messages between you are refused.
  • Mute is one-way and silent. Mute a person, a word or a tag and it disappears from your view. The other person is never told.
  • Message requests: messages from people you have not talked to yet wait in a Requests tab until you accept them. This is on by default for littles and new accounts. Anyone else can turn it on in Me → Safety & Blocks.
  • Reading-only mode, when a caregiver turns it on, now also covers comments, reactions, bottles, room chat, guestbooks, Gear Closet reviews and Show & Tell.

Events on your calendar​

When you tap Going on a Nursery event or meetup, it shows on your calendar on the main site, next to your routines and reminders. "Maybe" events can be shown too, dimmed. Linked caregivers can see the events you are going to.

Rooms and topics​

  • Topics has its own page: popular topics, the topics you follow, and a box to jump to any topic.
  • Gear Closet: diapers from the main site's diaper catalog are already listed. Reviews use a simple form with scores for absorbency, fit, comfort, noise, looks and value, plus size worn, day or night, and whether you would buy them again. You can review straight from your stash on the main site, and compare two or three items side by side.
  • Classrooms link to their real Schoolhouse course. Study Groups match 5–8 classmates from the study-buddy list.

Share with care​

Contract showcase (opt-in): share parts of your dynamic contract to inspire others. You pick the clauses. Sealed clauses and Limits are never offered, and names, places and handles are removed automatically. Both people who signed must approve, and what gets posted is a frozen snapshot of that redacted version.

For moderators​

Moderators and admins work from one desk at /mod: reports, a member's history, ready-made actions (a warning, hiding a post, a 24-hour or 7-day pause, or a permanent ban, each with the exact message the member sees), and undo. Nothing is deleted; hidden posts can be brought back. Members can appeal a ban or a removal, and the owner decides every appeal.

For caregivers​

Every co-caregiver of a linked little has the same tools in the Watch Tower: room controls, approvals and time requests.
