Night Nanny and alerts

Nobody can stare at a screen all night. These tools listen for you and tell the caregiver when something happens.

For littles

At bedtime, switch on Night Nanny. If you cry, she plays a soft sound and lets your caregiver know. In the morning you get a little report about your night.

Night Nanny (little's page)​

Night Nanny is an overnight watch that runs on the little's device. It works with or without a linked caregiver.

Turn it on​

  1. Tap 📷 Start Monitor and make sure the mic is on.
  2. In the Night Nanny card, flip the switch to arm her. You see Night Nanny is watching. Sleep tight!
  3. In the morning, flip the switch off. You see Good morning! Night Nanny is off.

If the monitor is not running or the mic is off, the card shows a warning telling you what to turn on.

What she does​

  • She listens to the room. A sound that stays above the line for 3 seconds counts as a cry.
  • With Auto-soothe on, she plays a gentle sound when she hears a cry.
  • If crying keeps going, she speaks a comfort phrase in your device's own voice after a few minutes.
  • Linked caregivers get a bell and a push notification: (name) might be crying.

Settings​

Tap ⚙️ Sensitivity & soothing settings:

  • Sensitivity: slide between Only loud cries and Every whimper. A live meter shows the sound level against the line.
  • Auto-soothe: on or off.
  • Soothing sound: 🌊 White noise, 🎵 Lullaby, 💗 Heartbeat or 🌧️ Rain.
  • Speak a comfort phrase after: 1 to 30 minutes of continued crying (3 by default).
  • Comfort phrase: pick one, then tap 🔊 Preview voice to hear it.

These settings are saved on that device.

The Night Report​

When Night Nanny is switched off, she builds a report of the night: how many cries, how many soothes, and the longest quiet stretch. Tap Show timeline for each event in order.

  • The little sees Your Night Report on their page.
  • Linked caregivers get a bell saying the report is ready, and see (name)'s Night Report on the watch page.

A night with no crying reads A perfectly peaceful night — not a single cry.

Motion and sound alerts​

This is a separate switch on the little's page, for daytime or any time the monitor is on.

  1. The little turns on Motion & sound alerts. It is off by default.
  2. While the monitor is live, loud noise or movement in the camera view sends an alert. Each kind of alert is sent at most once every 45 seconds.
  3. On the watch page, Recent Alerts lists them as 🔊 Loud noise or 🏃 Movement, and a small pop-up appears while the page is open.

Motion and sound alerts show on the watch page. They do not send a push notification.

Bells a caregiver can get​

Linked caregivers get a bell (and a push notification if push is turned on for the main site) when:

  • the little turns their camera on,
  • Night Nanny hears sustained crying,
  • the Night Report is ready,
  • the little answers a Tuck-In, or a Care Session starts or ends.

Littles get bells for Tuck-In invitations, Care Sessions (scheduled, starting, notes and the summary), recorded lullabies, and a new daily check-in time.
