The room

The room is where the daycare day happens. Everyone in your hub who has the room open shows up on the rug together, with Miss Daisy at the front.

To get there, tap Enter the room on the lobby. The room is only open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in your hub. Outside those hours it says "The room is closed right now" and counts down to opening.

For littles

Tap the big yellow button at the bottom of the room to join in. When you finish, you get a sticker! Say hi in the chat and send hearts and claps to your friends.

What you see​

  • The scene. Everyone in the room appears as a little avatar. Your own avatar is a bit bigger. On a busy day, extra friends show as "+ more friends here."
  • Miss Daisy. She says something about the current block, and announces each new block when it starts.
  • Speech bubbles. When someone sends a chat message, it pops up over their head for a few seconds.
  • The top bar. A link back to the lobby, how long until closing, the hub picker, the sound button, and Step away.

When a new block starts, a big banner like "Circle Time is starting!" appears at the top and a chime plays.

Join an activity​

  1. Wait for the block you want, or come in any time during the day.
  2. Tap the big button at the bottom of the scene. Its label changes with the block, like Go to the easel, Play freeze dance, Gather for the story, or Sit and eat.
  3. If the activity has a game or screen, it opens in a window. Play it, then close it to return to the room.

Joining a block marks it done for today, earns XP, and drops that activity's sticker into your album. See Stickers and cubbies.

Some blocks are things you do in real life, like snack, lunch, or nap. For those, do the thing, then tap the button to mark it done.

Activities you might see​

  • Circle Time: Good Morning Song, Calendar and Weather, or the Name Game
  • Morning and Afternoon Activity: Group Easel (color one big picture together), Shape Sorting, Sticker Book, or Finger Painting on the Art Wall
  • Active Play: Dance Party, Freeze Dance, or Stretch and Wiggle
  • Story Time: Story Circle or a Puppet Show
  • Arrival and Free Play: the toy shelf
  • Clean Up and Pickup: the clean-up song

Show and Tell Circle​

Show and Tell runs every circle time.

  1. During Arrival or Circle Time, find the Show and Tell card under the scene.
  2. Add one treasure: pick an emoji, give it a name, and write one optional sentence about it.
  3. During Circle Time, the spotlight moves through everyone's treasures. When it's your turn, it says "It's YOUR turn."

Presenting earns a special Show and Tell sticker.

The Art Wall​

When the activity is the Art Wall, you can put your work on today's wall. Everyone in the room sees the day's gallery, and you can take down your own art.

Nap Time​

During nap, the room goes dark, the chat becomes Quiet Chat, and a lullaby plays if your sound is on. A Sleepy time with Vibe card also appears. Tap it to open soft sleep sounds in Vibe, timed to the class nap.

Field Trip Friday​

Every Friday, the afternoon activity becomes a field trip to another CaregiverBabyHub app. The trip rotates each week through the Kitchen, the Library (the wiki), Camp, and the Hangout (the Playroom). The trip card gives you a small mission and a link. Go do the mission, come back, and mark it done to get that trip's sticker.

Earlier today​

If you arrive to a quiet room, the Earlier today card shows who was in today and when, how many pictures are on the art wall, how many treasures came in for Show and Tell, and what time the hub is usually busiest. Everything on it is real. If nobody has been in yet, it says so.

Tap Tell me when someone arrives to get a notification when another little checks in to your hub today.

If someone waved at you while you were away, their waves appear when you come back to the room.

Chat and reactions​

  • Class Chat is at the bottom of the room. Tap its title to open or close it. Messages can be up to 280 characters.
  • Reactions are the emoji buttons under the scene. They float up for everyone to see.
  • Report a message: tap the flag next to someone's message. A grown-up will take a look.

Chat is cleared each day.

Cameras​

Cameras are optional and off until you turn them on.

  1. Tap Cameras under the scene.
  2. Turn on your own camera if you want others to see you.
  3. Tap Hide cameras to close the grid.

Each hub has its own camera room, so you only see people in your hub.

Sound​

Tap the sound button in the top bar to mute or unmute the chimes and the nap lullaby.

Time-outs​

Time-outs are part of the daycare role-play. They only apply to littles.

A little goes into time-out when they:

  • type a naughty word in the chat (the word is starred out for everyone else),
  • leave the daycare tab for more than a minute while in the room, or
  • tap I was naughty to confess.

A time-out lasts 10 to 15 minutes. The room shows a time-out screen with corner-time steps and a timer, and Miss Daisy tells the room. You can't leave time-out early. You can still turn on your camera with Let my camera watch. When the timer ends, you're welcomed back.

If you can't get in​

If you see "You can't come in right now," a site admin has paused your daycare access. The message shows the reason if one was given.
