Hangout rooms and chat

The Hangout is a set of themed rooms that never close. Each room has its own look, its own background sounds, a few things to tap, and a group chat.

For littles

Pick a room on the map and walk in. You can drag yourself around, tap the toys, and say hi in the chat. Be kind, and tap the flag if someone is mean.

Find a room on the floor plan

The front page shows a drawn floor plan of the house. Each room is a little rug.

  1. Look for green dots on a room. They show how many people are inside right now.
  2. Tap or hover over a room to peek at who's there.
  3. A number badge means there are chat messages you haven't seen.
  4. Tap a room to go in.

Unlock a locked room

Locked rooms show a lock on the floor plan. They open on their own as your Care Stage grows. Your Care Stage is the shared level you build by playing, coloring, chatting, and doing things across all the CaregiverBabyHub apps.

Room unlocks are always free. If you try a locked door, the page tells you which Care Stage you need and which one you're at now.

Move around and use stations

  1. Drag your avatar around the rug.
  2. Tap a station to use it. Bubble stations let you pop bubbles, toy stations float up little treats, and nap stations let you sit and rest.
  3. One station in most rooms is the room's Toy Chest. Using it can sometimes drop a toy into your Toybox. See Toybox, Play Pass, and the daily puzzle.
  4. Tap the reaction buttons at the bottom to send a quick emoji to the room.

Use the speaker button at the top to turn the room's background sounds on or off. Tap Lobby to go back to the floor plan.

Change how your avatar looks

  1. Tap Change me under the room.
  2. Pick a buddy and a color.
  3. Pro and Premium members can also choose special buddies, extra colors, and a chat bubble tint. These show a small crown for everyone else.

Wave, boop, or sit together

Tap a friend's avatar to:

  • Wave at them.
  • Boop their nose.
  • Ask to sit together. They get a prompt asking if they'd like to. If you both stay sitting for five cozy minutes, you each earn 5 XP. Tap stop sitting together to stand up.

Chat in a room

The chat sits at the bottom of the screen on a phone, and in the corner on a computer.

  • Messages are plain text only, up to 280 characters. No links, pictures, or private messages.
  • You see the last 100 messages in the room.
  • Messages are deleted after 48 hours.
  • Each room shows a daily Show-and-Tell prompt above the chat. Answer it right in the chat.

Keep chat kind

  • Report a message. Tap the flag on any message from someone else. A grown-up on the team reviews it.
  • Mute someone. You can mute a person so their messages are hidden for you only. The mute is saved on this device, and you can unmute them from the chat.
  • Rude words. Rude words are hidden automatically, and the sender gets a 10-minute quiet time before they can chat again.

Quiet times

  • Nap Den. This room is always dim and whisper-only, and you can send one message every 20 seconds.
  • Naptime minute. For the first five minutes of every hour, the whole house dims for a sleepy break. Chat slows to one message every 15 seconds while it lasts.

Things to do together

  • Bubble Pop Party. Tap Bubble Pop Party! and everyone in the room gets the same bubbles to pop at once.
  • Group moments. Tap Start a moment to pick one shared activity for the room. Only one can run at a time.
    • Coloring Circle: the easel goes room-wide and everyone colors one big picture. When it ends, the picture can be saved to the Fridge.
    • Question of the Minute: one silly question, 90 seconds to answer and vote on favorite answers.
    • Show-and-Tell Turns: raise your hand, take the spotlight, and tell the room your thing.
  • Ball Pit. In the Ball Pit, tap anywhere on the floor to fling a ball. Everyone sees it fly.
  • Decor vote. Tap decor at the top of a room to vote on this week's decorations.
  • Trading Post. Tap Trading Post to swap duplicate toys with people in the room.

When you're the only one there

If nobody else is in the room, three little animal buddies named Pip, Mochi, and Bloop wander around to keep you company. They're just decorations, not real people, and they disappear when someone else arrives.

Quick commands

Press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) inside a room and type a command:
